MiHotel (SAS MiHotel, 29 place Bellecour, 69002 Lyon) attaches great importance to the protection of your data. This page explains which trackers are used on the mihotel.fr website, what they are used for and how you can control them. It supplements our privacy policy.

What is a cookie or a tracker?

A cookie is a small file placed on your device (computer, phone, tablet) when you visit a website. Other techniques serve the same purpose: the browser's local storage (‘localStorage’), measurement pixels or scripts from third-party companies. We use the word ‘tracker’ to refer to all of these techniques.

Trackers fall into two categories: those that are essential to the operation of the website, which are placed without your consent, and those that require your prior consent.

Trackers essential to the operation of the website

These trackers cannot be disabled: without them, booking and payment would not work. They are not used for any advertising purpose.

  • Secure payment (Guesty Pay): the bank card form is provided by our payment service provider Guesty, within a secure environment (pay.guesty.com). It places the trackers strictly necessary to secure the transaction, for bank authentication (3D Secure) and for fraud prevention. Duration: the time of the transaction. Your card details never pass through our servers.
  • Remembering your cookie choices: when the consent banner is shown to you, your answer is saved so that we do not ask you again on every visit. Duration: 6 months.
  • Protection against bots: our contact forms include an invisible technical safeguard against automated submissions, with no tracker and no additional data collection.

Anonymous audience measurement, without consent

To understand how the site is used and to improve it, we measure visitors’ journeys anonymously. These measurements comply with the conditions set by the CNIL for exemption from consent: purpose limited to audience measurement, anonymous data, no cross-referencing with other processing, and no tracking from one site to another.

  • MiHotel booking journey: a random identifier, unrelated to your identity, is stored in your browser’s local storage (“mih_sid”). It tells us, for example, how many visitors view a Suite, request a rate, add an extra and then complete or abandon their booking, as well as the language, the type of device and the origin of the visit (“mih_src”, kept for the duration of the session). No personal or payment data is recorded. Duration: 13 months maximum, then renewed.
  • Visitor statistics: when this tool is enabled, we use a privacy-friendly audience measurement solution (Plausible or Umami), which works without cookies and without collecting any data that could identify you. It shows us, in aggregate form, the most visited pages, traffic sources and our visitors’ countries.

Trackers subject to your consent

These trackers are only placed if you accept them in the consent banner displayed on your first visit. Refusing them has no effect on your browsing or your booking.

  • Google Analytics 4 (Google): detailed audience measurement and analysis of visitor behaviour. Cookies “_ga” and “_ga_*”, duration 13 months. Data may be transferred outside the European Union under the safeguards provided by Google.
  • Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram): measuring the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns and showing adverts tailored to your interests on Meta networks. Cookie “_fbp”, duration 3 months.

These tools are only activated when MiHotel is running campaigns; the list above covers those we may use.

Content from third-party sites

  • Maps: location maps are displayed using OpenFreeMap, which does not place any cookies.
  • Suite photos and availability: these come from our management tool, Guesty, with no tracker on your device.
  • Videos: if a blog article embeds a video hosted by a third-party platform (YouTube, Vimeo), that platform may place its own cookies. In this case, the video only loads once you have given your consent.
  • Fonts: these are hosted on our own servers, without calling on any external service.

How to manage your choices

  • Consent banner: on your first visit, you can accept or refuse the trackers subject to consent, either all at once or by purpose. Your choice is kept for 6 months.
  • Changing your choice: at any time, via the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
  • Your browser settings: you can delete existing cookies and block them from being placed in the settings of Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Blocking essential trackers may prevent online payment.
  • Deleting the journey identifier: simply delete the site data for mihotel.fr in your browser.

Your rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and object to the processing of data concerning you. You can exercise these rights by writing to contact@mihotel.fr or by post to MiHotel, 29 place Bellecour, 69002 Lyon. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
